Chapter 265: This Life—The Beginning (VI)

TL: Resonance

Shang Ke looked sleepily at the guy standing in front of him with breakfast in his living room.

“Why did you come?” Shang Ke asked.

“To have breakfast with you.” Wei Xun held up the beautifully wrapped food box in his hand, “As well as to cultivate friendship.”

According to normal people’s thinking, when they face a new and powerful rapist, even if they didn’t call the police, did not look for revenge, nor did they strangle him the moment they meet, they won’t have any “friendship” to cultivate. However, Shang Ke knew that this man has a soft spot for him, and Shang Ke liked him very much too. Facing his bossy and domineering behaviour, Shang Ke have always been unconventional and loved him regardless of what he did. The one who raped treated it as a lifelong achievement (even if he had no memories), and the one who got raped treated it as his lover’s feelings (because he has the memories).

So the final conclusion is that Wei Xun is not a normal person, and neither is he.

Shang Ke sat on the sofa, eating breakfast while thinking: “Old married couple” does not seem to be sufficient to describe their relationship anymore, perhaps they should be called “world generations of adulterers”?

Ugh, how worrying. How are they going to continue being friends at this rate?

Other people are trying to make the person they like fall in love with them, but he has to go to great lengths to make the person he likes fall in love with him and not let outsiders find out that he is in love with him. They had to develop love spiritually while maintaining physical purity.

Wei Xun saw that Shang Ke’s face was dark with lowered eyebrows and he wasn’t speaking, and secretly thought that his impulsiveness the day before had made Shang Ke have grievance against him.

“Is it not to your taste?” Wei Xun broke the silence.

“As breakfast,” Shang Ke commented rigidly, “the nutrition combination is not reasonable enough. Sandwiches, buns, cheese, juice, ham, bacon and eggs are all acidic foods. Excessive intake will easily lead to acidic blood, causing an imbalance in the physiological pH balance. It would be better to pair it with some vegetables and fruits.”

Wei Xun: “…” Who bought the breakfast, I will cut them to death when I get back!

Shang Ke got up and went to the kitchen and fiddled about for a while before bringing out a colourful fruit platter and two cups of hot cereal.

“This is perfect.” The hair on Shang Ke’s forehead curled up slightly and he had a self-satisfied face, completely unaware that he had entered the spoiling-his-husband mode again.

Wei Xun stared at him intently with a hint of laughter in his eyes.

The two of them “happily” enjoyed their respective breakfasts. Then, Wei Xun reservedly excused himself and left with an unusually brisk pace.

Shang Ke sent Wei Xun away like a virtuous husband and even hummed a song after closing the door. Then he realized, what was he feeling so proud of…

After that, Wei Xun comes uninvited every day and leaves after eating breakfast. He displayed the right amount of presence, trying his best not to cause pressure to Shang Ke. He intends to wait for the relationship to become a little more familiar before he proposes to let Shang Ke work by his side. Then, he will arrange the workplace to be a little farther away, which he will then be able to use as an excuse to find a new house, and logically live together.

Wei Xun’s plan was a good one, but plans are always unable to catch up with changes. Just when he thought the time was right, Shang Ke disappeared. To be precise, he left the country. Without even telling him, he left the country silently.

One can imagine how bad Wei Xun’s mood was when he found out about this. He naturally thought that all the previous gentleness was just a fake obedience to make him let down his guard. The so-called being friends was also just a pretext to facilitate his escape.

“Bang!” Wei Xun slammed his fist heavily on the table and a hint of tyranny flashed in his eyes.

“Find him for me immediately.” He ordered coldly.

“Yes, Master Xun.”

Shang Ke still didn’t know that he had angered a certain Tyrannosaurus again; he hadn’t left the country to avoid Wei Xun, but to apply for a patent.

He told Qi Chen about it, but not Wei Xun. The relationship between him and Wei Xun should not be so “good” to the point that he needs to report his schedule at all times. Besides, it would only take a few days to submit the application, so the rest is just a matter of waiting for the result back home.

But Shang Ke did not immediately return home. Instead, he went on the Internet and wantonly cleared all the paid tasks issued by various companies, using his skills to earn money. The tasks were varied and most of them did not offer high prices, but with the accumulation of many tasks, they allowed Shang Ke to make a small profit.

If someone does a statistic, he will certainly be surprised to find that Shang Ke received a total of 45 orders in four days, with a completion rate of 92%, of which 8% are mainly tasks that have not yet been answered and intentionally skipped. Since these tasks came from different websites and countries, Shang Ke’s feat of crazily completing the task went unnoticed.

“Dingdong!” There was a knock on the door.

While tapping on the keyboard, Shang Ke asked loudly in Y language: “Who is it?”

“Room service.”

Room service? Shang Ke looked at the time. It was almost 0:00, what room service? Wait, is this the legendary special service?!

Although he would like to see it very much, he also felt that it’s a bit of a waste of time, so Shang Ke said back: “Sorry, I’m already resting, I don’t need room service.”

There was no more noise outside the door, and Shang Ke didn’t care either. He focused on finishing the work at hand, then stretched, turned off the computer, went to the bathroom and took a shower, flung himself onto bed and turned off the lights and went to sleep.

While he was half-asleep, he felt some heaviness on his body, as if there was a huge python wrapped tightly around him. Hot and tingling sensations could be felt from his skin.

Shang Ke opened his eyes alertly and found himself lying prone on the bed with one leg bent to the side. His waist was lifted, and with a sharp pain, his body was vigorously penetrated.

“Ah!” Shang Ke couldn’t help but cry out in pain, yanking up a pillow and slamming it backhanded at the person behind him. The other person easily blocked it and clamped down on his arm, attacking even more violently.

“Get out!” In the dark room, Shang Ke couldn’t see the other man’s face. The smell was somewhat familiar, but he wasn’t 100% sure.

The man’s movements were fierce and strong, not giving Shang Ke any room to resist. The sound of the bed creaking, accompanied by the rhythmic colliding sound and the sound of the body rubbing together, echoed in the silent room.

While struggling, Shang Ke touched a scabbed scar on the man’s arm. This was the deepest scratch he had left on Wei Xun’s hand when they first did it.

Fuck, it really is this bastard!

Shang Ke was really a bit angry this time. No matter how tolerant he was of this man, that was only if he was clear of his identity and voluntarily let him bully him. But for him to sneak into his room like this without saying a word and violate him wantonly like a pervert was beyond his tolerance.

“Wei Xun!” Shang Ke bellowed angrily.

The man paused for a moment, then leaned down and kissed him on the back. He withdrew after thrusting hard a few times, then he pulled up his pants and got out of bed and walked out of the room.

What do you mean by leaving after fucking?

Shang Ke sat up with a sore body and felt something coming out from between his legs. He couldn’t help but curse, then jumped out of bed and stumbled into the bathroom.

Wei Xun returned to his room and leaned his back against the door, staring at the ceiling in silence, his tyrannical emotions somewhat hard to restrain.

He wanted to have that person completely, but he was a man. It wouldn’t matter if it was just a few times in bed, but if he wanted to really be together with Shang Ke, he was bound to encounter huge obstacles. Even with his protection, it would be hard to keep Shang Ke safe, but he couldn’t control himself. When he learned that Shang Ke had fled the country, he followed without hesitation. He vented his anger and uneasiness on him, then felt an overwhelming sense of regret and heartache afterwards. He wanted to keep Shang Ke firmly locked to his side, but also had to be concerned about the consequences of being discovered. The obstruction of his family and the public opinion of the society could land Shang Ke into a situation of no return. To add on, Shang Ke had not yet accepted him.

But even so, he couldn’t let go.

Wei Xun slowly hung his head down, and a fierce light flashed in his half-squinted eyes.

The next day, Shang Ke cleaned himself up and ate breakfast while waiting for Wei Xun to come. As expected, at exactly 7:00, there was a knock on the door.

Shang Ke opened the door and let him in, then returned to his seat and continued eating breakfast.

“Let’s talk.” Wei Xun sat down next to him.

“Go ahead.” Shang Ke forked up a ham and chewed it in his mouth.

Wei Xun’s eyes rested on those lips with the ham and said, “I want to sign an agreement with you.”

“About what?”

“About the rights and obligations related to how to effectively keep you for a long term under the premise that neither of us will get married or cheat on each other.”

Shang Ke understood this sentence only after processing it a few times.

He put down his half-eaten ham and asked, “What reason do you think a normal man would have to agree to enter into such an agreement with you?”

If what happened last night hadn’t happened, he might have considered it. After all, he wasn’t a normal man. But now, it was not possible. Wei Xun’s feelings for him get stronger every world, and in relation, he becomes more and more of a scum in every world. Once their relationship was established, he simply could not hide it.

“In fact, I do not need to fight for your consent.” Wei Xun said calmly, “But I don’t want to force you.”

Shang Ke: … He had no energy to curse.

“And if I refuse?”

“I will inlay this agreement into your phone, computer, email, web page, etc., so that you can see it whenever you open any of them, until you click to agree.”

Blatantly dropping a Trojan horse virus, could you be any more rogue?

Shang Ke sighed: “Listen to my proposal?”

“Go ahead.”

“We don’t need to make things so complicated.” Shang Ke said slowly, “We are independent individuals with our own careers. Whether it’s for you to accommodate me or for me to depend on you, it’s not really suitable. Rather than cover up and develop an underground relationship, let’s be simple and straightforward and be collaborative partners.”

“Collaborative partners?”

Shang Ke nodded and continued, “I went overseas this time to apply for a patent and then find someone to collaborate on research and development. If you’re willing, I’ll email you the information later, and you can read it and then decide whether to cooperate with me.”

This man has always been a protector and controller, so his demands from Shang Ke are always limited to family and sex, never once thinking that Shang Ke is also capable of protecting him and fighting alongside him. Shang Ke didn’t mind it much during the reincarnations because he was on a death mission and could leave any time. But the present world is different. He has no mission and only needs to concentrate on planning their future. The pressure of the outside world, for them, is not an obstacle, but a challenge.

Shang Ke is well aware of this man’s domineering nature, so he cannot use tough approaches against him. He can only smoothen his hair[1] and bit by bit achieve the purpose of transforming him.

Of course, in order to prevent Wei Xun from climbing over his head, Shang Ke cannot spoil him too much.

Shang Ke: By partnering with Wei Xun, he can make use of this heavyweight car to hitchhike a ride up and also prove his ability.

Wei Xun: By partnering with Shang Ke, it would become justifiable to keep him by his side, they could develop an underground relationship logically under the cover of collaborative partners.

“What do you think?”

“Very well.”

The two men happily came to an agreement.

    First comment! 😍😍😍

  2. GhostBear says:

:0 ML is scum! Author-sama, even you agree, so why make him so scummy!?!😭😭😭 All I can say is Keke…..good luck…….
    Thanks for the chapter~♡♡♡

  3. Starlight says:

I’m really outraged at what the author did to ML ಥ‿ಥ because just in the last arc he had to become a rapist (ᗒᗩᗕ)

  4. Geovana says:

I don’t like this…belittling rape? Really? This ML always left a bad taste on my mouth. I read the novel because the world’s that he goes are interesting but this is too much man.

  5. Killgore says:

Author Sama, I was fine with ML throughout the book but this chapter, I am sorry but ML is tyrannical sexual abuser. THIS IS LITERALLY RAPE AND FORCING SOMEONE INTO A RELATIONSHIP! HOW IS THIS ROMANTIC!? HUH? IDGAF IF THEY HAVE BEEN HUSBAND FOR WORLD’S BUT THIS IS NOT OKAY! AT ALL!

  6. Shane says:

Apparently because the author did not have enough, they added more rape! Forceful non consensual sex! Stalker behavior! Tyranny! Abuse of power and authority!

Imagine romanticizing and justifying rape- COULDN’T BE ME.

It’s not romantic. It’s not sweet. It’s not a lifelong achievement. It’s disgusting, utterly repulsive. It wasn’t this bad the previous arcs, so why?

    I’m cringing.

    • Shane says:

I don’t understand their mindset of romanticizing rape. I don’t see the appeal of not having consent.

Is it a turn on to see someone barging into your room then suddenly penetrating you in the middle of the night?

      • kira says:

The only thing I hate more than rape unfortunately is romanticized rape and ugh this turned me off the entire book sadly (ب_ب)

  7. Sai says:

Really dislike the ML in this part.

    • Sai says:

If I was the MC, at this point I’d just kill myself (since it’s not the end), find out who the ML is in the next life (without being discovered), then move as far away as possible and make sure to never cross paths with him and live a beautiful life of happiness and bliss away from all that scum and abuse. At least the part in the system seems less slag-like, so just take that part and be happy with it.
      Seriously.

  8. sarcasx says:

Good way to ruin a story, author. It’s really sad that this novel took such a bad turn with normalizing and romanticizing something like rape. This is so fckn disrespectful to all the rape survivor’s. Guess this has been the last chapter i will read. Thank you very much for the patience and strength to translate this novel Translator-san! ❤

  9. leprofessionalhobo says:

Thanks for translating! This arc is really making me uncomfortable. I know that some of the other arcs were also dubious with consent (and that’s completely wrong. No means no, there’s no exception) >.> but this is just way too much. I hope the ML learns that that’s not the way to behave by the end of this arc.

  10. bruh says:

the whole novel was really good wtf is this last arc????

    • queenxaya says:

      same -_-

  11. drenlith says:

More than complaining about author’s tastes I’m questioning the folks who left 5 star reviews and defending ML’s toxic actions *head throbbing in pain*

  12. Soah says:

What happened to the novel… like I’m usually don’t take these things too seriously but this arc is so so poorly written like ?????

  13. ryse says:

all their fantastical reincarnations were so good despite the tragedies. real life truly is disappointing :((

  14. Fan_Girl_Noha says:

Dear God! I could still tolerate the scumminess of the ML in the other arcs since they were sort of incomplete in a sense and were determined by the world setting. But WTF is wrong with this author…before it was dubcon and now it’s blatant rape? I’d rather have Qi Chen…😡

  15. Keke🤍 says:

I have always love their relationship throughout the arcs but this chapter made me really mad..he didn’t apologized nor even thought that what he did was wrong… and Shang Ke may have forgiven him since they are lovers for so many years and in so many worlds but this is not ok 😭

  16. puerileworries says:

    YEAH FUCK WEI XUN

  17. No Rapist says:

    I have to say
    Im not alone HAHA..
    I like this book.
Its bit of everything of Quick Transmigration Novelss
But too many bits, its not Unique

But “Forceful” seem to be the taste of this novel writting
From “naive boy” secretly penetrate sleeping person (the mushroom arc)
From the first chapter of “forcefully” transmigrated by system (the lamp).
Why be force when many “sweet” and consent can be make to “balance “ the relationship between MC and ML which u author wants to achieve….!?

Is it to grimd more viewers?
For me NO, its too scary. Because i have to say .
Every book i read im taking it seriously even its Yaoi/Horror/whatever i want to read.
So i may want me to spill blood from damage if something goes wrong morally and too *rapist*
Why am i rambling here? Author wont see this though…HAHAAaaaa

  18. eunicealexcyb653f07949 says:

If the scum ML gets abused, i will reluctantly forgive this novel 😅😅

  19. Iza says:

I find it funny that ppl are still shocked and outraged about the ‘rape’ in this chapter when throughout the whole novel, the author consistently used dark comedy and poke fun at almost every sensitive subject possible, e.g. torture, abuse, violence, war, romance, murder, dubcon, stalking, SM play… to name just a few! There was so much torture porn in this novel, and ppl are just offended by the ‘rape’? Strange! Everyone has a bottom line concerning sensitive topics but, personally, i think it does not warrant insulting or censoring authors.

  20. 3694 says:

Oh so this is why I didn’t read the ending. Now I know
