Chapter 13

I’ll kill you all!

Those in the group chat had nothing to do and rapidly gathered, heading straight for the isle. They intended to explore in advance.

Altogether, there were five people, all anchors — among which two were previously professional players. Their relationships with Fang Jingxing had always been pretty good, so they came to the same server together.

Someone said, ill at ease, “Did you block him when circling us up just now?”

The person from before said, “Blocked, he can’t see.”

En, that was good.

They did a loop around the isle and felt that although it was as gorgeous as the famous sacred destinations to check-in, it won in terms of secluded beauty. Water, trees, flowers, grass — it was also very suitable for a confession.

“I still think it’s fantastical. They’ve only known each other for two days.”

“Me too……”

“Hey, do you guys remember in the closed beta, when he had us pay attention to someone; didn’t it seem like the profession was Seal Master?”

The rest of them stared blankly before recalling this matter.

“Righto, he even had us help forward his update!”

“These two are the same person?”

“Definitely must be!”

They immediately felt they had discovered the truth.

As it turned out, there was an intersection long ago, and after being separated, Captain Fan yearned day and night. Now, reuniting during the server launch, he found his feelings too difficult to restrain and wanted to confess.

Someone among them suddenly asked, “What if it is the Seal Master’s birthday?”

The footsteps of the other four people ceased. They all looked at him.

“Say something” and “celebrating birthday” do not match up very much, but it was also not an impossibility. Someone slapped his thigh. “Easy to handle, prepare for two eventualities!”

They gathered in a circle and discussed for a while, deciding to hide tomorrow and secretly watch from the sidelines.

If their brother was giving someone a birthday celebration, they would privately obtain their brother’s consent before appearing to help with the celebration. While at the same time, giving the person another birthday gift.

If their brother was giving someone a confession, they would jump out of their hiding spots and burst out streamers, giving their brother a nice surprise. If it was unsuccessful, then they would secretly slip away, to avoid wounding their brother’s ego.

“Look if the mall has anything we can buy.”

“Birthday gifts should also be prepared.”

“We should all switch to unified clothes.”

“Yeah, it’s the best man team in any case.”

They were all anchors and fundamentally did not lack money. They could afford whatever needed to be bought.

After finishing everything, they left the isle and collectively went online to sleep, preserving and nurturing their spirits.

Early next morning, Fang Jingxing politely knocked on the Xie family’s door with a graceful, charming smile.

Jiang Shilan had yet to go to the research institute and said with a smile, “Xiao Yan is not awake yet; have you eaten breakfast?”

Fang Jingxing replied, smiling, “Eaten.”

He shook the moisture off the dewy bouquet and handed it over. “Passed by the flower shop earlier and saw that they were arranging flowers. I felt it was very pretty and bought a bunch.”

Jiang Shilan smiled and accepted.

The two families, Fang and Xie, had long been friends. She had basically watched this child grow up. What had long been cooked could not be cooked again. There was no need for those empty courtesies. Thus, him saying he felt it was pretty was simply him thinking it was pretty.

This child was especially charming. Just a simple trifle could make people have a good mood. What was rare was that he was still unattached.[1] A single grasp could snatch a large number of his admirers, yet she had also not seen his heart being moved by anyone. Jiang Shilan sometimes felt rueful. She did not know what kind of person could be together with him in the future.

Fang Jingxing said, “Yesterday, I made an appointment with him. I’ll go up and yell for him.”

Jiang Shilan said, “Go ahead.”

Fang Jingxing then drove a lightweight chariot on a familiar road,[2] arriving at Xie Chengyan’s room. He dug the Film Emperor out of his blanket burrito.

Xie Chengyan dazedly glanced at the time and then withdrew back. “It’s barely 8:10.”

Fang Jingxing said, “He goes online at 8:30.”

Xie Chengyan said, “I’ll sleep for another ten minutes.”

Fang Jingxing flashed a cultured and refined smile. “Out of the question.”

Xie Chengyan did not utter a word.

Fang Jingxing lifted his blanket.

Xie Chengyan struggled within the bed for five minutes before getting up. He went to wash his face and rinse his mouth, only afterward becoming clear-headed at last.

He carried his eyeglasses and walked to sit on the sofa near the balcony. He then joined Fang Jingxing online and asked, “Are you sure I’m useful?”

Fang Jingxing said, “Not sure, but he has seen your films and evaluated you as good. He should have a good opinion of you.”

He analyzed in a manner neither terse nor slow, “When an ordinary person suddenly meets a celebrity, their attitude might change all of a sudden. If you help say a few words for me, he might not directly go offline.”

As long as the boy did not go offline, everything else was easy to deal with.

Fang Jingxing was afraid he would switch servers without saying a word.

Xie Chengyan replied, “Okay, where do I go?”

Fang Jingxing gave him a coordinate. “Wait on the shore first. When we’re on the island, you can swim over and hide. I’ll call you if I need you. If I don’t, you can go have fun.”

Xie Chengyan did not object and began setting off for the small lake.

Fang Jingxing then turned back and returned to the gate of the Level 25 instance. He stood there waiting for the Seal Master where the other had gone offline.

When Jiang Chen went online today, he saw the little rookie by his side. He asked, “How come you’re not in class?”

Fang Jingxing said, “A small matter, come to a place with me.”

Jiang Chen said, “Skipping class?”

Fang Jingxing replied, “Explain later.”

He took the other person toward the destination and pretended to be curious as he said, “Brother, what would you encounter that would make you angry enough to delete your account and switch servers?”

Jiang Chen pondered for a moment about that kind of situation and felt it wasn’t possible.

He said, “I would usually be able to make the other person delete their account and switch servers.”

Fang Jingxing: “……”

En, he believed it.

He sounded out, “What if someone you trusted does something that breaks your heart?”

“Then he’s dead.” Jiang Chen said, “From that point forward, I will act as if that person does not exist.”

Fang Jingxing: “……”

Jiang Chen looked at him. “What is actually going on?”

Fang Jingxing considered his own value and felt that after two days of acquaintance, he should not have reached the “trusted” level. As long as this boy’s anger was eliminated, he could live. If he did not confess right now, the later he confessed, on the contrary, the more wretched he would die.

He said, “You’ll understand in the end.”

Jiang Chen followed him all the way to the lakeside, swimming to the isle at the heart of the lake.

This acreage of this island was not very large. To walk from the head to the tail, it only required seventy to eighty steps. Trees and a wide expanse of flora dotted the island. Bits and pieces of stone were scattered throughout. Apart from that, there was nothing else.

The best man group did not know the exact time, so they had been hanging around keeping a watch since seven o’clock.

Due to worrying about running into their family’s brother, they intentionally swam over to the side farthest from the shore. Four of them were currently hidden behind stones. One was lying on his stomach up ahead, within the underbrush; he was in charge of the live relay.

They had not gotten up so early in a very long time; they were nearly halfway to death and quickly falling to sleep absent-mindedly.

Up until this moment when someone saw a familiar figure — he suddenly shook awake and softly said into the party channel, “Everyone, wake up; he’s here.”

The best man group immediately cheered up and gazed over there at the same time.

Meanwhile, Xie Chengyan followed his friend’s route and also swam over to the isle. He and the best man group covered the south and the north, guarding each side. No one could see anyone.

The two important persons had, at this moment, already walked beneath a tree.

Fang Jingxing took out the fireworks he had bought in advance and set them up densely. He coughed dryly. “I have something I want to tell you.”

The person at the very front of the best man group roughly heard what this line was and passed it on to his brethren.

Not celebrating a birthday; as expected, it was a confession!

As several people thought this, they were bitter and hateful.

Like this? Like this?

Just fireworks?

Fireworks were fireworks, but you could have arranged it remotely. What was this pile on the ground?!

If they had known earlier, they would have directly contacted him. In any case, they could help arrange it!

“His EQ is normally very high; how could a confession succeed like this?”

“Might be the first time, nervous.”

“Then why didn’t he ask someone?!”

Sigh……”

Jiang Chen surveyed the surroundings and the fireworks, connecting several questions he had just now. His first thought was that it was a confession as well.

However, he always felt it was a bit strange. After all, they had only known each other for two days. Naturally, this did not exclude the factor of chūnibyō.[3]

Fang Jingxing waited. Seeing the other not say a word, he asked, “Then I’ll directly say it?”

Jiang Chen said, “Wait a moment.”

Fang Jingxing did not dare to refute him. “Okay.”

Jiang Chen suppressed this strange feeling and swept his eyes all over the place.

He recalled how this little rookie kept mentioning his friends and suspected a group of friends and relatives were lying in wait in the vicinity.

As a result of this sweep, his good eyes discovered half a person’s head peeking out from behind a rock. His thoughts were complicated. This little rookie truly wanted to confess?

He pointed over in that direction. “Have your group of friends and relatives walk out; let’s all chat.”

Fang Jingxing stared blankly and then suddenly turned his head.

The best man group was currently muttering in their party channel about the EQ of their family’s brother, which influenced the listening ability of their announcer. Moreover, he and Jiang Chen were farther away, so this sentence was not heard clearly.

They only saw the two look over at the same time and were all startled.

“Fucking awkward, we’ve been discovered!”

“What do we do? They’re still looking!”

“Go go go, no hiding, go and help our brother save the show!”

“As the magnificent male god of the alliance, how could his confession be so unassuming!”

“Precisely!”

The group of people did as they said. Hu—la— Running out, each one set down two fireworks they had been hugging and rapidly arranged them into a wreath, barely giving the fireworks a shape. Afterward, they bought the raining blossoms special effect, as well as releasing a package of fireflies. Colored lanterns then began floating up from the bottom of the lake.

Jiang Chen: “……”

Fang Jingxing: “……”

Xie Chengyan: “……”

Film Emperor Xie was lying on his stomach behind a rock on the other side. His entire being was stunned by this extravagant operation.

After the best man group finished everything, they neatly fished out the firework sparklers and lit them in unison, encouraging their brother. “Accept him! Accept him! Accept him!”

Jiang Chen: “……”

Fang Jingxing: “……”

Xie Chengyan: “……”

Fang Jingxing closed his eyes and sucked in a breath.

Just as he thought this was already too disastrous, he heard them open their mouths.

“Accept our Captain Fang!”

“Our Fang Jingxing is gentle and soft, considerate, and also looks handsome. You will not regret it!”

“Also, he’s also the world champion!”

“Accept him!”

Jiang Chen: “……”

Fang Jingxing: “……”

Xie Chengyan: “……”

Jiang Chen felt the trails of clues from yesterday and the questions of today instantly connect. That strange feeling from just a moment ago finally vanished like smoke in thin air.

He suddenly turned to look at the Master of Darkness in front of him and drawled, “Fang Jingxing?”

Fang Jingxing: “……”

I’ll kill you all!
