Chapter 4

five of love, waiting for you online

A simple instance for a small party of five caused their two big shots to become flying chickens and jumping dogs.[1]

Fang Jingxing skated the boss and led it to bite Jiang Chen. Jiang Chen would naturally not sit and wait for death, so he thus dodged repeatedly.

It was the first time he played this instance, and he was not familiar with the terrain. He thought there was space for him to turn a corner up ahead, but when he drew closer, he saw clearly that the stone wall had a curve that just happened to be blocking his path.

Fang Jingxing seized the opportunity to pounce at the boss, boxing him into the corner.

A block was a block, yet someone still pretended to be a big-tailed wolf.[2]

“I’ve been ‘concentrating’ on the boss and have not been paying you any attention. How come you don’t know how to dodge?” Captain Fang was tender and considerate. “Don’t be scared; I will kill it as fast as I can.”

Captain Jian was very calm and collected. “Not worried; after all, the aggro is all on you.”

Fang Jingxing: “……”

The aggro was locked on Fang Jingxing; this meant the boss would only chase and bite him.

The boss’ attack range was wide, however, and apart from the single-target attacks, there were also group attacks. Jiang Chen had been forced to eat damage from a group attack. Immediately after, during the gap between its single-target attacks, he quickly flipped over its body, stepped down on it, and landed in front of a certain person, exiting the corner.

Fang Jingxing: “……”

Jiang Chen arrived at a safe zone and then cheered him on. “Play slowly, don’t worry!”

Fang Jingxing smiled and commented, “There is no need?”

Jiang Chen replied, “Didn’t you say you will kill it as soon as possible?”

Fang Jingxing turned around and dashed past him.

Jiang Chen drew a lesson from this setback and did not repeat his previous mistake. Fang Jingxing kited the boss as it chased him for five minutes, not blocking Jiang Chen again this time.

If there was a third person present, they would perhaps be watching with wide eyes, shocked and amazed.

The cavern was only so large. Despite the broken rocks and uneven stone walls, and not to mention the boss having a five-level advantage, they unexpectedly avoided all its attacks while being chased.

Fang Jingxing assumed it would kill him, only to have the taste returned to him[3] at this moment.

Honestly speaking, this low-level small instance had a limited margin of performance.

The core of those teams could casually pull it alone, even with a five-level disadvantage, he could avoid the boss. The rest could stay out of it.

But this was on the major premise that no other factors were interfering.

At the moment, he was kiting the boss and actively making chaos. He deliberately compressed the other party’s safety zone, still focused on trying to find a tricky angle. Yet this Seal Master could respond by handling the butcher’s cleaver with ease.[4]

The avatar had a set speed; it was impossible to run as fast as desired.

Although the degree of freedom was quite high in the virtual reality, it seemed that this player could casually run away, but each time he could leave the boss’ attack range just right, which was not casual at all.

This Seal Master was really slippery.

Fang Jingxing conscientiously reflected for a moment.

When excluding other things and focusing on just this footwork alone, within the entire Wandering Dream Alliance and of those who could play with him to this degree while using a crispy skin profession, there were no more than ten people.

—— It was impossible for these people to be unable to remember his ID.

Could it be that before, in the keyboard mode, his hand speed could not keep up and only his conscious could, so he had no other choice but to be a common elite player; but now that he switched to virtual reality, he could be awesome?

Or……this guy previously played something else.

If not, based on the strength of this Seal Master, he would not have been blocked by him earlier, unless he was unfamiliar with the map.

If it was indeed like this, then it was quite terrifying.

To dare to play around like this, in an unfamiliar map, on top of the boss’ firepower…peak judgment and consciousness were both indispensable. ——In the Wandering Dream Alliance, those that could achieve this point did not exceed ten people.

Fang Jingxing said, “Okay, no more playing, wasting time.”

He no longer tried to kill his teammate and honestly fought the boss, saying, “Anyway, help out, okay?”

Jiang Chen also knew he should not just watch.

He helped fight for a while. After seeing that this teammate was no longer waiting to set him up, he began fighting the monster seriously.

When the two of them joined hands, this matter was much easier.

The boss’ blood bar streaked downward, very quickly reaching the bottom.

Fang Jingxing saw this and hastily rushed forward. “When it’s red blood, don’t let it back out of the fight.”

Jiang Chen heard this and understood that this was the boss’ red blood mechanism. He subconsciously followed him to pursue and attack.

As a result, the boss did not draw back at all but instead leaped at them, coming up face to face.

Jiang Chen: “……”

A second later, the boss’ berserk big move smashed onto them with a loud bang. The two of them instantly had only a sliver of blood left.

Jiang Chen: “……”

In order to make him be oppressed by the boss, this teammate did not hesitate to drag himself in as well.

Fang Jingxing had indeed done this on purpose, but not to mess around. Rather, he wanted to test something.

The results came in now; this Seal Master was fighting this instance for the first time, as expected. He did not know this boss’ red blood mechanism and was fooled by him.

These two had cultivated their skills to an extremely high level. After suffering, they rapidly dodged to the side, continuing to fight with just a wisp of blood.

The spider could no longer shoulder the firepower from these two big shots. With a miserable shriek, it threw itself onto the street, lying on the ground motionless.

The noisy, chaotic cavern finally quieted down, and the people remaining looked at each other.

Fang Jingxing sincerely said, “Sorry, I remembered it wrong. As such, the things the boss exploded will all be given to you.”

Like hell would Jiang Chen believe him. He casually touched the corpse and left the instance.

Fang Jingxing followed him out and pretended to carelessly say, “How come you also forgot?”

Jiang Chen’s footsteps paused. He said, “My memory of it was messy.”

He did not want to continue dealing with this thing. He walked to the edge of a cliff and glanced around at the scenery — then jumped down.

Fang Jingxing: “……Hey!”

Jiang Chen spread out his arms, free-falling.

An advantage of games — you can come back to life after death.

An advantage of virtual reality, you could experience the happiness of bungee jumping.

But this happiness was discounted. Maybe because there was a technical issue, or due to the game company’s security consideration, his rate of descending was not as fast as it should be in reality. The wind blowing in his face was also lesser. It did not matter, however, as he did not care.

The scenery beneath him enlarged incessantly. The game music directly flowed into his brain.

The cool breeze brushed his face, cooling his invigorated youthful will and spirit. Carefree and uninhibited, his eyes involuntarily heated up.

Wandering Dream Continent.

He was back.

He laughed, lighthearted.

However, before this laughter was withdrawn, his body stopped midair —— the shortcomings of closed beta, bugs were aplenty. This was running into a wall of air by chance.

He was lying on his stomach, arms and legs extended out, thirty meters above the ground. He tried to move and discovered it was useless.

A moment later, a shadow slid past his body and fell to the ground with a bang, becoming a corpse.

Fang Jingxing revived on the spot. He raised his head and saw Jiang Chen’s new appearance.

Jiang Chen: “……”

Fang Jingxing: “……”

Fang Jingxing immediately began laughing and returned Jiang Chen’s words back to him. “666.”

Jiang Chen: “……”

Fang Jingxing was afraid he would go offline and honorably added, “Can’t move to the side?”

Jiang Chen: “Can’t.”

Fang Jingxing moved so he was right beneath Jiang Chen. “Let me look at your coordinates. Wait for me a bit. I’ll jump down and try to see if I can pull you out.” After he said this, he ran up the mountain at high-speed. Searching for the exact coordinates, he jumped down and successfully landed on Jiang Chen’s body. Stepping on Jiang Chen’s back, he said with a smile, “I’ll screenshot……”

Before he finished speaking, perhaps because of where he landed, he actually pressed Jiang Chen down.

Jiang Chen fell to the ground and became a corpse. Fang Jingxing staggered and fell, replacing Jiang Chen’s face-down figure in the air. Fortunes rose and fell.

Jiang Chen: “……”

Fang Jingxing: “……”

Jiang Chen asked, “Did you screenshot?”

Fang Jingxing said, “……I was joking.”

Jiang Chen did not give him a 6 and instead opened the mall.

During the closed beta, the majority of things in the mall were greyed out and non-purchasable. But the game company had a high understanding of player preferences. Knowing they loved fireworks, these products were lit up. It did not cost money during the closed beta, given free of charge for them to test.

He thus took one and set it up on the ground, wanting to set it off the fireworks at his teammate, as thanks for the life-saving grace.

Fang Jingxing: “……”

Jiang Chen was about to aim, but then he stopped suddenly. “If I place it here, can you see from that angle?”

Fang Jingxing said, “Can see.”

Jiang Chen looked at him.

Fang Jingxing gazed back at him.

The two men locked gazes for a few seconds. Jiang Chen carried the fireworks over and adjusted the angle so the fireworks would directly hit his face. He clearly had not believed Fang Jingxing’s words.

Fang Jingxing had played the game for so many years. This was the first time he had fallen into such a plight. He asked, “Can you be humane?”

Jiang Chen replied, “This is a bit of my kind feelings.”

He ignited the fuse after he finished speaking. With a whoosh, the fireworks attacked a certain person’s face, exploding with a bang.

Fang Jingxing: “……”

The sound of explosions fell incessantly on the ear. He had set off no less than 10, each one aimed with incomparable precision.

Captain Fang’s eyes were clouded with an abundance of color, exceedingly noisy and excited. He would thoroughly remember this Seal Master.

Jiang Chen took out several more after he was done, packing them densely beneath Fang Jingxing. He wanted to see if he could explode Fang Jingxing down.

Fang Jingxing asked, “Still coming?”

Jiang Chen said, “Rescuing you.”

Fang Jingxing asked, “Do you believe in yourself?”

Jiang Chen, concise and comprehensive: “Believe.”

The moment his voice faded, he sensed his arm being poked. He then left the game and took off the eyeglasses. He saw the little nurse standing by his bedside, reminding him that he should eat. He stated, “Give me five minutes.”

The little nurse said, “I had come by several times just now. This is the latest time to eat; it cannot be delayed.”

Jiang Chen said, “Just five minutes.”

The little nurse said, “No good.”

Jiang Chen ignored her.

The little nurse could not obtain an agreement and continued poking him. Seeing that he was uncooperatively avoiding her, it launched its procedures and began weeping. “Wa—”

Not yingyingying crying, also not sobbing and sniffling, but instead bawling — practically heart-piercing and lung-splitting.

Others outside heard this activity and rushed to the doorway, among these being two AIs. They all stared at him.

Jiang Chen’s face was wooden. He kept silent for several seconds, staring at this all thunder but no rain,[5] upset AI. He said, “Okay, eat.”

The little nurse was silent for a moment before happily and diligently going to retrieve him his meal.

Jiang Chen used this gap in time to return to the game and say, “I have something to do first. You should look for good fortune yourself.”

After dropping this line, he casually set off a firework and disappeared without a trace.

Fang Jingxing: “……”

He did not want to continue lying face-down and straightforwardly went offline too. He pondered for a while and then opened the Alliance group chat. With a smile, he asked, “Who’s online?”

This low voice was laced thoroughly with gentleness, which could cause thousands of thousands of fans to become pregnant.

The people in the group chat did not need to look at his name; they knew it was the alliance’s male god by just hearing it. All of them exploded, asking him what he wanted.

Fang Jingxing said, “Help me ask around; which clubs have people who just begun playing in the closed beta. All projects are included.”

It was a trivial matter. In less than half an hour, Fang Jingxing got feedback.

Other projects indeed had people come to Wandering Dream, but they all began playing a month ago. There were five newcomers in the Wandering Dream project who had just entered the closed beta, of which three were other races. Only two were of the Demon race.

Fang Jingxing thought that those two must be the Divine Warrior and Swordsman. He talked with the Swordsman briefly and then had him go online.

The Swordsman came slowly, feeling overwhelmed by favor from this superior and unaware of what this god sought him out for.

After Fang Jingxing called this person over, he recalled that his avatar was stuck in a bug. He indicated for the Swordsman to wait for a moment and went online to look. Luckily, he discovered that his avatar had emerged from the bug. He thus allowed the Swordsman to close his eyes and follow along. He took the Swordsman to the first instance. After a few words of explanation, he began to kite the boss to bite him.

The Swordsman immediately covered his head and sneaked away like a rat, his blood bar dropping straight down.

From beginning to end, the contrast was too clear. Fang Jingxing inwardly concluded that his judgment was indeed right —— virtual reality might account for part of the factor, but it was by no means the entire cause. That Seal Master was really amazing.

Moreover, he was most likely not a member of a club.

Fang Jingxing, to be safe, verified all this once again. After receiving a definite reply, his heart rate immediately sped up. As the boss of a club, he must sign this Seal Master before others did.

In order to set this plan into motion, he began to keep an eye out for this Seal Master. Unfortunately, all the way till nightfall, the other party did not return. He waited day after day and still did not see the other’s silhouette. Worried that he might have missed the other party, he slightly regretted not adding the Seal Master as a friend. He thought for a while and then opened his personal homepage. Without much extra effort, he contacted a few friends to help forward his message.

As a result, on this day, fans saw their long-missing male god bubbling[6] at last. Eyes collectively brimming with tears of excitement, they all then uniformly choked, staring stupefied at his latest announcement ——

「 Familiarity at first sight, as if separated for three autumns.

Disasters are never powerful enough to separate real friends. A smile is all that is needed to eliminate the debt of gratitude coupled with a duty to avenge.

five of love, waiting for you online [heart][heart][heart] 」

The author has something to say:

Last night, chapters 2 and 3 were intensively edited; take a look if interested. Even if you’re not interested, the main contents have not been changed anyway,

The Martian language in the previous chapter was written without any meaning, do not get twisted trying to figure it out.

Expressing thanks to everyone for their overlord tickets and nutrient solutions, muah~
